GIF Technical Secretariat
The OECD Nuclear Energy Agency has been supporting the activities of the Generation IV International Forum since 2005. It provides technical secretariat services, archiving records and documents, as well as maintaining the Forum's internal and external websites. The NEA Technical Secretariat consists of more than 12 staff members on both a full-time and part-time basis.
The GIF Technical Secretariat's Team
For two decades the OECD-NEA has provided Technical Secretariat services to the Generation IV International Forum. More than a dozen of professionals from the Division of Nuclear Technology development and Economics (NTE), the Division of Nuclear Science and Education (SCI), the Division of Nuclear Safety, Technology and Regulation (SAF), the Division of General Legal Affairs (GLA) and the IT division are working to facilitate and support the cooperation withing GIF. From organising and supporting meetings, conferences, webinars and workshops to actively participating in the drafting of key GIF publications they are involved in every step of the GIF efforts.

Diane CAMERON
Diane Cameron is Head of the Generation IV International Forum (GIF) Technical Secretariat and Head of the Nuclear Technology Development and Economics Division (NTE) at the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA). She oversees the GIF Technical Secretariat, providing support to GIF leadership and member countries. In her role at NEA, she leads an expert team of economists and scientists that supports energy policy and nuclear energy policy development among NEA Member Countries by advancing evidence-based, authoritative assessments and analyses in the areas of nuclear economics, financing, and cost reduction, as well as nuclear technology, innovation, and the fuel cycle. Prior to joining NEA, she was Director of Nuclear Energy for the Government of Canada where her responsibilities included overseeing Canada’s participation in GIF and serving as Chair of Canada’s SMR Roadmap and architect of Canada’s SMR Action Plan.

Gina ABDELSALAM
Gina Abdelsalam is the GIF Technical Secretariat Chief of Staff.
Working closely with the Head of the GIF TS and in collaboration with the GIF Executive Team, she is overseeing daily operations of the GIF Technical Secretariat as well as strategic GIF business initiatives, from development through successful execution.
Gina holds an MSc in Energy and Nuclear Engineering from Phelma - Grenoble INP, and a Master of Business Administration from HEC Paris. Prior to joining NEA, she worked at EDF where she started as a nuclear research engineer before leading a project in nuclear reactor physics between EDF and FRAMATOME.

Seoyeong JEONG
Seoyeong Jeong is an experienced R&D project manager and policy analyst for international collaborations in the nuclear energy field. Her academic background is in political science and economics. She has been involved in GIF’s joint R&D endeavors for proliferation resistance and physical protection, economics modelling, and 3S (Safety, Safeguards and Security) interfaces.

Elena POPLAVSKAIA
Elena Poplavskaia is a Nuclear Scientist in the division of the Nuclear Science and Education and Data Bank at the OECD/NEA. She also provides Technical Secretariat for the Generation IV International Forum (GIF) supporting the SCWR Steering Committee, SCWR Project Management Boards on Thermal-hydraulics and Safety, Materials and Chemistry, SCWR provisional Project Management Board on System Integration and Analysis, the VHTR Fuel and Fuel Cycle Project Management Board and the Advanced Manufacturing and Materials Engineering Working Group.
Prior joining the NEA in 2013 she was the head of a Research Centre laboratory, where she led the activities on system analysis of nuclear energy systems including advanced fast reactors and closed fuel cycle technologies, innovative institutional approaches to nuclear energy deployment and long-term aspects of achieving sustainability in the cycle. She was also involved in co-operation with the IAEA INPRO project. She holds a PhD in Engineering Science.

Marina DEMESHKO
Marina Demeshko has been a Nuclear Safety Specialist at the Division of Nuclear Safety Technology and Regulation, NEA/OECD, since 2018. She also serves as the Technical Secretary for the Generation IV International Forum (GIF), supporting the Risk and Safety Working Group. Throughout her career, Marina has gained extensive experience in nuclear research, engineering, and safety regulation. Prior to joining NEA, she was a Deputy Director at a scientific-technical support organization, where she led key safety assessment and regulatory oversight projects. Marina holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from Osaka University, Japan.

Franco MICHEL-SENDIS
Dr. Franco Michel-Sendis is a Nuclear Technology and Fuel Cycle Specialist at the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), where he has served since 2010. Throughout his career, he has led and coordinated international initiatives in uranium resources, nuclear fuel cycles, nuclear data, and nuclear criticality safety, while also serving as the scientific secretariat to several system steering committees for the Generation IV International Forum. A dual national of France and Mexico, Franco has dedicated his academic and professional life to nuclear science. He holds a PhD in Nuclear Reactor Physics from the University of Paris-Saclay, where his research focused on advanced nuclear fuel cycles, along with advanced degrees from École Polytechnique and the Sorbonne. Franco is deeply interested in, and committed to, bridging the gap between science and policy, particularly in the field of innovative nuclear technologies.

Kazuya OHGAMA
Kazuya Ohgama joined the GIF Technical Secretariat in 2023. He serves as the Technical Secretary for SFR Steering Committee, SFR Project Management Boards on Component Design and Balance-of-plant, System Integration and Assessment, Safety and Operation, and Advanced Fuel, and LFR Provisional Steering Committee. As of October 2024 he serves as the acting TS for the Senior Industry Advisory Panel (SIAP).
After obtaining his Ph.D in engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, he entered Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), where he worked as Principal Research Engineer in charge of evaluation of core physics tests conducted in the prototype fast reactor Monju and a U.S.-Japan bilateral cooperation for metal fuel SFR core neutronics design and benchmark study.

Brent WILHELM
Brent Wilhelm is a Nuclear Energy Analyst in the Division of Nuclear Technology and Economics within the Nuclear Energy Agency. Brent also serves the Generation IV International Forum (GIF) as Technical Secretary to support international R&D efforts on advanced gas-cooled reactor technologies, and the use of nuclear energy for non-electric applications.
Prior to this role, Brent worked for the Government of Canada as a Nuclear Science and Technology Advisor with Natural Resources Canada, where he informed analysis on nuclear energy technologies in support of Canada’s strategic policies. He has also worked at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, Bell Canada, and GreenBug Energy, where he gained practical experience in clean energy technology development and the management of infrastructure implementation projects.
Brent received both a MSc and BSc in Physics from the University of Guelph where he specialized in nuclear energy and planetary bulk geochemistry.

Alexiei OZERETZKOVSKY
Alexiei Ozeretzkovsky joined the GIF Technical Secretariat in 2023. He serves as the Technical Secretary of the GIF Education and Training Working Group (ETWG) and led the revamping of the GIF Public Website project.
He has a background in nuclear engineering. His past professional experiences primarily involved supporting bilateral and multilateral international cooperation efforts in nuclear energy development and projects related to Cold War-era radioactive legacy management.

MinJeong Kim
MinJeong KIM joined the GIF TS from Korea as an intern in September 2024. This internship is part of her Bachelor's degree with a Major in Quantum and Nuclear Engineering. For the six months of her internship within the GIF TS she will be supporting the whole GIF TS team while learning about Generation IV reactors and international cooperation supporting their development and deployment.
