Pitch Your Generation IV Research Competition 2025
Are you a PhD student, post-doctoral fellow, or junior engineer with a PhD working on Generation IV nuclear energy systems? (Completion of the PhD must be after January 1st, 2023)
The GIF Education and Training Working Group (ETWG) invites you to participate in the 2025 edition of the "Pitch Your Generation IV Research" competition (PYG4RC).
This competition provides a platform for you to showcase your research and gain recognition within the nuclear energy community.
Who can participate?
The PYG4RC is open to:
- PhD students
- Post-doctoral fellows
- Junior engineers with a PhD
Completion of your PhD must be after Jan 1, 2023.
Competition steps and format
1. Executive Summary Submission (01 OCT 2024 to 28 FEB 2025 16 MAR 2025 - Deadline extended by two weeks)
Submit an Executive Summary outlining your research on Generation IV nuclear energy systems during this period. Executive Summaries will be reviewed by a panel, and shortlisted candidates will move on to the next step.
2. Prepare Your 3 Minutes Video Pitch (01 APR 2025 to 30 APR 2025)
If shortlisted, you will be invited to create a short "pitch" video (3 minutes) that highlights your research and its potential impact. This is your chance to creatively present your work to the GIF community.
3. Public Vote & Jury Vote (01 MAY 2025 to 31 MAY 2025)
Videos will be made available on GIF ETWG’s YouTube and Bilibili channels.
A jury composed of a panel of experts from the GIF Members will select first and second winners from the jury. The public will also vote for their favorite pitch.
The winners will be announced in June 2025.
Summary of Key dates
- 01 OCT 2024 to 16 MAR 2025: Executive summary submission period.
- 01 APR 2025: Contact of the shortlisted candidates based on executive summary review.
- 01 APR 2025 to 30 APR 2025: Submit your video pitch if selected.
- 01 MAY 2025 to 31 MAY 2025: Public vote and jury deliberation.
- 01 JUN 2025: Final vote counting.
- JUNE 2025: Winners will be announced on the GIF portal and LinkedIn.

Winners
Two winners will be selected by a GIF jury.
One winner will be selected through a public vote on GIF’s social media platforms.
Opportunities for Winners
- Present your research during a GIF ETWG webinar, providing you with a prestigious platform to showcase your work to a wider audience.
- Attend a GIF international or regional event as a guest and observer, gaining valuable insights and expanding your professional network.
Opportunities for shortlisted candidates
Video pitches of all shortlisted candidates will be posted on the GIF ETWG Youtube and Bilibili Channels. This is an opportunity to give visibility to their research.
