The Generation IV International Forum Research and Development Infrastructure Task Force (GIF RDTF) was established in 2018 to support the development of essential R&D facilities for Generation IV nuclear energy systems. The Task Force identified critical experimental infrastructure needs for six Gen IV systems (SFR, LFR, GFR, VHTR, SCWR, and MSR) and highlighted gaps based on national R&D programs. It promoted the utilization of these facilities for collaborative R&D among GIF partners, leveraging international cooperation with IAEA and OECD/NEA. The Task Force's final report, published in January 2021, provides key recommendations to enhance R&D collaboration, address cross-cutting challenges, and stimulate joint funding from member states and enterprises. Following the publication of its final report, the Task Force was concluded.
